Hi all,

I've always had an issue with looking younger than I actually am, an issue I imagine at least some of you encounter as well! I am 23 but most people think I'm 15-18 years old. I'm always searching for ways to "look older"... dress nicer, wear more make-up, style your hair, etc. None of these things seem to work for me, I look 15 no matter what I try!

On the topic of dressing nicer: My boss requires all of us to wear plain shirts and plain pants to work. Initially the uniform consisted of a baggy royal blue T-shirt, and a pair of skinny jeans (no wonder people think I'm 15!). I eventually convinced her to expand the uniform choices to include solid-colored polo shirts, and slacks in either tan or black. Still not much to work with, but slightly better.

I work all the time so I need to figure out how to rock this polo-and-slack outfit, keep it from going stale, and somehow pull off not looking like a teenager. Any style advice, or advice on how to be perceived as my actual age, would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much!

I think we've discussed how to be perceived as older pretty well here.

Make sure the polo fits well and change up your bottoms. Try wearing different pant silhouettes over heels? Any chance you can add sweaters/cardigans/blazers? Also, I think the trick working with this uniform is to keep up with the grooming (make-up & hair) and add accessories - jewelry, scarves, etc., some flare if you will. Maybe some classic, tasteful pieces, nothing crazy colorful that might pass you off as a teenager...
