hello everyone!

i am in love with these alexander wang look-alike booties by kelsi dagger. they are called the 'evonna' bootie and have a towering 5" heel.

Image

the only reason i'm hesitating is.... i think it might look a little bit ridiculous on a girl that is just over 5' tall. that's almost 1/5 my leg length! what are your thoughts?

Those are adorable and I think you should go for it! I’m 5’ and have several pairs of 5” heels. I love the look of high heels (my daily wear-to-work shoes are usually between 3.5 and 4” tall so people are always surprised when I tell them how short I am). I just bought a similar pair, the NineWest Checkit bootie in dark brown leather with a 4” heel and I love them.

It depends on your foot size. If you're smaller than a 6 or 6 1/2, I wouldn't go too high - you might topple over (the smaller your foot, the steeper the "incline" it'll make when wearing higher heels). I actually wrote a post about very high heels late last week.

I am currently looking for ankle booties. However, I prefer a 2-3 inch heel (surprisingly hard to find) because if I go any higher, I might fall over. I looked at the Nordstrom website (didn't see much I liked), endless.com (quite a few good ones; definitely worth checking out), and piperlime.com (lots of nice ones but all around the $100 range). Definitely worth checking out those websites if you want to find comparable boots with a lower heel.

As for the Alexander Wangs boots, all I can say is WOW! But if you can wear a 5" heel, then I say go for it :)

My max height is 3.75-4" in heels, only because that's what I can walk comfortably in for hours. I LOVE how we petites can get away with 5" heels though =) Just make sure they are comfortable on your foot.

I love Wendy's vid here --> http://youtu.be/vHTNldZ9z4c and her tip about the pitch of the shoe. It really helps when trying on heels because not all feet are the same; it's a good way to make sure you can wear them comfortably.

I agree with shortystoriesgal, you don't want to overwhelm your legs. If you're going to go that high, I say get a slightly skinnier heel or a lighter colored boot.

I don't think it's a problem to wear them if you're short. When I imagine my taller friends in towering heels I think that would look way stranger. I'm going to be in a bridal party this fall, and while I know I'm going to be the only one wearing much of a heel, I'm also shorter than everyone else by at least 4 inches- if not 6 inches. Plus the grooms' party is tall, 2 or 3 (out of 4) are going to be over 6 feet. So, if anything, I am going to stick out because I'll be short even if I wear heels!
However, I have decided against anything more than 4 inches or with too obvious of a platform, because I don't want my shoes to look too very different than the other bridesmaids'.

I think the pair in Lunita's picture is a little more subtle, though, because the heel isn't a contrast color and the toe is wrapped, so you can't tell so much that it's a stacked platform heel.
