Hi there:

I'm new to the forum and thrilled to have found such a helpful resource -- thanks!

I have a job interview in just two weeks and have been scrambling to find a petite suit that doesn't make me look like Elaine on Seinfeld. Most blazers I've tried on are too long and huge in the shoulders/underarm but snug across the chest. And don't even get me started on the suit bottoms ... not even close! If they fit in the waist, they are too wide and baggy in the seat, rise, and overall length.

I have tried all the usual suspects (Macy's, Nordstrom, LOFT, the Limited) and looked online, but one piece of most separates are sold out. Any advice on where else I might try?

Or do you think I might have more luck with a suit alternative -- maybe a silk blouse/skirt combo or dress -- since I'm so pressed for time? FYI: My interview is with a creative department within the Federal Government.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hmmm...pants will probably be difficult to find, so I would suggest looking for a skirt suit or dress and jacket combo to get you through interviews. Skirts and dresses are easier to find, and easier to alter if they need fixing.

Since you're interviewing for a creative job, you can usually get away with a less conservative outfit, but because it's within the Federal Government, I fear that may up the conservative factor a bit. I'd hate for you to underestimate the dress code.

Ann Taylor usually runs roomy in the bust on me, so you might want to give them a try. Not much is left online in smaller sizes after the holiday shopping frenzy, but perhaps they can locate some items in store for you.

I hope some busty gals can give you more advice!

Thanks for the advice. I decided to go back to Nordstrom and have an associate pull options for me. They were one of the few stores that was still well-stocked after the holiday.

I found a beautiful black blazer from Lafayette 148 New York -- a brand that worked well for my shape -- and matches a pair of pants I already have. I also found a nice gray skirt suit from T. Tahari. Naturally, both need alterations and are at the tailor now!

I this question is no longer relevant to Sassafras but I just wanted to avail myself to other ladies with a fuller bust because I see that in the petite blogging community I am a good "busty" reference at 34C/32D (25 waist 34 hips.

Yay! Congrats! I did not know whether you'd still stop by this thread. Btw, Rebecca & Drew shirts are really good to prevent gaps at the chest.

I checked out their website and am glad that they have shirts for my size (32D). Is the sleeve length for "Regular" shorter for petites as well? Too bad they don't have a store here in CA, I would love to check it out.
