Inspired by AN's guest post on the lovely Demoiselles' blog (you can read it here:
http://www.alterationsneeded.com/2010/0 ... elles.html), I thought I'd start a thread about those funny, often patronising things people say to you as a petite.
Check out these hilarious but tragic experiences left in the comments section by Jen and Peachcharm:

I do want to mention one thing you left out: the head pats. Random new acquaintances patting you on the head and saying "oh, I just want to put you in my pocket!" because that's not at all patronizing.

I hate it when I see a size 00 or an XXS/XS and it runs at least 2 sizes too big. What's even worst is when mirrors are outside the dressing room, and a sales associate asks if you need a different size... sorry but I'm already wearing it -___-
God, if I had a dollar for every time this had happened to me... and I totally know the sinking, disappointed feeling that goes with it too LOL.
My personal favourite has to be "God, you're so
tiny!" followed by an exaggerated roll of the eyes, or perhaps the "don't you
eat?" which was once accompanied by a rather unceremonious pinch on the arm - WTF! (I'll just note here, that if I was to exclaim how fat/gigantic/bald/smelly someone was, I'd probably get clobbered in a nanosecond).
Even more confusing is the "Y'know, I used to look like you when I was your age - don't worry, you'll end up like me soon enough... your time will come." I can't wait.
So, petites, when has your tiny stature given someone licence to act like a tool and say/do things that would otherwise be considered rude? Or do you regularly experience situations like Peachcharm's that go hand in hand with being on the small side?
