I have never worn rain boots before, any suggestions?
My calves are fairly small, between 12-12.5 inches. What should I max out at? For example, if the calf measurment of a boot is 15 inches, is that a no-no for me?

I'm in the same boat! I'm looking for some too. During the Summer women don't look for any around here. Now that its more Winter-rain, everybody seems to be wearing rain boots more!

Michelle, I want to say that 15" might be a tad big on you. I have ~13" calves and own Burberry rain boots. On Nordstroms' site, it's listed with a 14.5" calf circumference. I wear jeans with my rainboots and have no problems tucking them in. But of course your best bet is to try them on in stores and see what you're comfortable with

I just bought Michael Kors rain boots and they fit perfectly! Not too much of a gap at the calves. I'll be posting it soon! : )

My calves are just under 12 inches and I love my Hunter rain boots. The calves are a bit wide but I like how the boot is taller and narrower; I find the mid-calf boots tend to make my legs look even shorter. The gap is mainly noticeable from the side - I am wearing thin leggings and thin knee high socks to show. When I wear jeans, the gap is a lot smaller.

I have 13" calves and the Chooka brand has been great. Not too tight, not too loose. I can stuff jeans in, etc. I got mine online at Nordstrom. They have really cool designs, too.

I have been looking for rain boots as well. I've looked at shoemall and Nordstroms and there are several different kinds and I'm having a hard time picking! What brand is the best to buy? I too have never bought rain boots so I want to get a really nice pair!

Has anyone had experience with children's Hunter boots? Size 5 is too big for me so I was looking into getting a pair in 4. How's the height and calf and circumference on the children's boot? Thanks!

I was actually at Nordstrom the other day and tried on a pair of children's Hunter boots since I am also considering getting a pair. I am not sure how my experiences will translate for others since I am very short, have tiny feet, and have muscular calves. Either way, here's what I found.
In adult shoes, I wear European size 32, size 3.5 at Cinderella of Boston, size 4 in boots. I have no idea what my calf length is, but the Jessica Simpson Cedar boots I got at Nordstrom are described as "Approx. boot shaft height: 15" with 15 1/2" calf circumference" (but I suspect the measurements are smaller for size 4). These boots overlap with my kneecaps a little and they hug my calves pretty snugly with jeans on.
The children's Hunter boots I tried on was a size 2, and it was comfortable with a lot of wiggle space that can fit the Hunter socks made for these boots. The boots went up to about 1.5 to 2 inches beneath the knee. The calf circumference is quite accommodating since my calves fit comfortably inside, although there was very little space between my legs and the boots around the widest part of my calves. For people with thinner calves, I think it won't look awkward either because the boots come up to around the thickest part of your leg as opposed to the thinner knee area (as pictured above), so there won't be as big a gap.

Nordstrom.com has the blackberry Hunter original tall high gloss boots in size 5 for $61.90 and the chocolate and teal ones in size 5 for $75.90 if anyone is interested.
