I work in the medical field and usually wear a lab coat, so I rarely wear blazers. I have interviews coming up and desperately need a new suit! Any recommendations on stores to check out in Canada? I am going to try Banana Republic, Aritzia and Jacob but was wondering if anyone else had good recommendations.

BR is a bit of a gamble. Sometimes their pants fit excellent, and sometimes it's ginormous (I'm 95-98lbs, ~5'1"). Even within one style, two different pairs of 00P pants can fit really differently. Really inconsistent sizing, but you have to go in store to buy. Their tops fit perfectly well though. Aritzia has no petite pants, which is sad, but has xxs tops. Try RW&Co. or Mexx -- I'm pretty sure I've seen 00 at Rw& Co... but not in petite, so expect some hemming necessary. There's also Laura Petite but they are very "old woman" look. I've personally given up for in-store purchasing and am ordering online. I've tried BR, J.Crew and today just ordered the Express Illustrator pant... wish me luck.

Hope the Express pants work out for you! I have some Martin fit 00P that fit well at my regular weight (in the process of gaining) so I am hoping I can find a matching nlazer. I find Aritzia's dress pants can fit really well but couldn't find any suits at my last visit! RW&Co tends to run a bit big as well, I have a few pair of their pants but after hemming they are a bit ill fitting. I'll have to try Mexx too - I recently bought a skirt that fit perfectly off the rack!

Have you tried Club Monaco? Some of their stuff fits pretty well. And if there's a Holt Renfrew nearby, try out their Theory stuff. Occasionally I'll find something at BR but I usually have to tailor the pants quite a bit.

I've had luck with blazers at Mexx but the skirts and pants don't fit me there! Instead of getting a completely matching suit you might have to try pieces that simply work together. A cheaper alternative is H&M as well for blazers. How about RW&Co? I haven't shopped there in a while but I know some of the items fit small.

No to RW&Co unless you're looking for sweaters or accessories. I've found that a lot of their pieces either fit funny or are big. If there's a Femme de Carriere near you, give them a try. Some of their pieces would be a little big (and all pants will require hemming), but their skirts, jackets and dresses tend to fit okay. I would stay away from Aritzia if you want to look grown-up/professional.

I tried the BR wool blazer in sz 0 and it fit small. I'm 4ft 11, 92lbs for reference. It was just a tad big on me in the shoulders - a 00 or 0p would have been perfect. I think everything's currently 40% off in stores right now too.

I will continue to post here as my search continues hopefully to help out other Canadian petites.
Here some stores I've tried so far: -Teen Flo: I had high hopes as I've heard they run small, but the 00 blazer was still large in length & sleeves and the pants were enormous all around. -Mexx: the size 32 blazer fit alright, but the pants were much too large and very wide legged. -Aritzia: no suiting currently in stores that I could see
Cynthia: unfortunately we don't have that store out West! Some of their pieces on their website look gorgeous. LaLaaLove: I was eyeing that blazer on the website last night! The BR locations closest to me don't carry petites, but I am hoping to head downtown soon to check out that suit. I have wide shoulders for my frame so I have less problems fitting jackets; but I have small hips (~31) which make pants the biggest factor.

Good luck! I think you'd be able to wear a regular 0 in the blazer then - I have very narrow shoulders, and it was just a tad big. The store I went to didn't carry Petites either. I got the Ultimate pants from Ricki's yesterday in a size 0 short. They're a little "skinny", so I don't know if it's suiting appropriate, but the did fit on my 30inch hips, bum and waist, plus they were only $26 after the sale and Ontario tax.

Actually, Femme de Carriere has two stores in the Vancouver area - one in Burnaby (Metropolis@Metrotown) and another at Oakridge Mall - at least according to the Femme de Carriere website.
