Where can I find plain button down shirts for us petite girls? By plain, I mean no embellishments, ruffles, extra details, etc. I'm not awfully petite--5' 1-3/4" and 100lbs.

Thanks all!

I just got an email recently from a petite who had great luck with Thomas Pink. She found the slim fit button downs to be a perfect fit. There are a few different sleeve styles, one of which she found to be too long, but one was a really nice length. I haven't had a chance to check out Thomas Pink recently, but it might be a place to look.

A little pricey, but for the perfect button down, it may be worth it. =)

For a cheaper option, try H&M, but watch out for the ones with "shiny" fabric. Those tend to look a bit cheap. And be careful washing and drying the really stretchy ones. I have one that got all puckered after the first wash.

I vouch for Thomas Pink as well. I was an extra for a sitcom once and they gave me a Thomas Pink slim-cut button down in size 0 and it fit like a glove with all the proper proportions! I know it's pretty expensive for one shirt, but if you wear it all the time, why not get one that fits?

Otherwise, I've had decent success at Banana Republic. I always get back darts added to the shirt to make it more fitted so it's never perfect off the rack, unless you don't mind a loose-fitting shirt.

I prefer to pay more for a nice button down since I really like a crisp, well-made shirt. I hate the ones I used to get from Forever21, H&M, and Nordstrom (Juniors) because after a few washes, it just looks horrible.

You could also try Old Navy... they have a ton online. I also really like the more casual Converse button downs at Target (http://www.target.com/Converse-One-Star-Sleeve-Sport/dp/B002S1THLW). They have front pockets and rolled sleeves, but that's all the detail. They have a panel of stretchy material at the sides, so they fit slim. I'm a tiny bit bigger than you and it was tight in the arms for me!

This shirt is a sz0 from Espirit. The length is fine on me (perhaps a little long, but would be perfect for you at 5ft1), but the sleeves were really long.

(Sorry for the picture quality - I only had my BB :/)

Close-up of the bust, extra fabric on sleeves and back.

It was still a little big for me, but it might work for you as you're a little bigger. HTH!

I've seen a lot of plain ones recently at H&M. Esprit and Suzy Shier also have a lot of plain ones. : )

So far, the only button-downs that have worked for me are Banana Republic's 00P. They have a no iron line that is great! I just wait for them to go on sale, and can get my button-downs for super cheap. My Banana has so many of the super small sizes on mega discount. Makes me so happy! :)

I just bought a plain white button down at ann taylor loft in XSP - fits great w/o alterations. love how the sleeves are the appropriate length on me.

I'm also about your size & I love the BR button down shirts. I have a few of the non-iron shirts in 0P (with french cuffs) and they fit perfectly. Usually the 00P are too tight in the chest (I'm a 34 A/B) & underarm area. I agree with Michelle when these shirts go on sale they're a great bargain.
