Not to derail this thread too much, but has anyone had trouble with pencil skirts riding up? I have a 3-4 block walk between my train station and my office and I have to pull/readjust my skirts constantly on the way. They twist and ride up sometimes 3"-4", making my pencil skirt into practically a mini skirt. It doesn't matter whether I have a bag or if I am empty handed. I love pencil skirts, but it drives me mad because I see some girls not having this riding up problem at all. What's the secret?

If your skirt is riding up it is too tight. It is moving up to the point of least resistance which is your waist. My suggestion would be too buy the skirt a size larger to fit your hips. If the waist is too big have it tailored. And, don't just have the waist taken in at the side seams....it should be adjusted all around including any darts. Hope this helps.

I have pencil skirts ranging from very tight to quite loose, and they all twist around and rise up. (The only one that doesn't is my Express high wasted stretch pencil skirt). Any advice to avoid the twist/rise would be great!

I have been searching for nicely fitted pencil skirts everywhere too!
The one brand that I find has the best fit is BCBG.

They have short ones that are thigh-length and longer ones that are knee-length so if you are looking for the more conservative look, you can go for the longer skirts.
I wear size XXS and I find that their power skirt material (they call those pencil skirts power skirts haha) hugs the bum very nicely. They are pretty tight, but they tend to stretch out a bit after being washed.

Their skirts are pricey >_< But I think it can be a good investment since a nicely fitted pencil skirt can almost be considered to be an essential wardrobe item.
