I found a pair of OTK boots that I love. They are a little slouchy in the calf area, but not too bad. The problem is that I want a pair boots that I can wear for several years. Do you think this is a dying trend? Please be honest. The boots come just over my knees. Thanks!

Mmmm....would you wear the shoes anyway if they went out of style? If you really love them? I'm trying to buy only things that I love so that I would still wear it even if it wasn't "cool." Personally, I live somewhere warm so I can't justify OTK boots, but some petites look really cute in them.

Personally I love over the knee boots. When worn well, they look amazingly cool and/or chic. They might not be on trend forever (what is?), but I doubt you'd ever look out of style in a pair like Jimmy Choo's April leather thigh boots.

I think a particular boot's wearability over time depends on its style. Clean, classic lines in a rich neutral color (black, chocolate brown, cognac, etc.) will stand the test of time. I could see wearing those Choos for years. A trendier style like these suede wedge thigh boots by Rick Owen? Not so much.

Found a good resource on OTK boots that might be helpful:

Apparently, it is a "tricky" trend especially for women under 5'4" and might require a more thoughtful consideration when putting together an outfit with OTK boots.

I never liked this type of boots as I just cant find an event to wear it with. Probably a stroll in streets of shops but I reckon it would not be comfortable if the weather decides to be a little too sunny for comfort. All the more when it starts raining. Though I admire those who can really rock it. I sure can, but I am just not that comfortable wearing it around.
