Hey all,

I *just* discovered this whole online community of petites and I am addicted! I'm just under 5'1 and 106 pounds (trying to shed my last 6 pounds of baby weight).

Anyway, I'm hoping you all can give me your opinions on this pair of Steve Madden Haviland OTK boots I just bought. Should I keep or return? There's about a 1.75" heel. I know riding boots are in and most of the ones I've seen are just under the knee, but I'd like to have a pair of boots that can be a staple in my closet. Not sure if the shaft on these boots is too tall for me?

Sorry, I don't know how to rotate the pics!!

Thanks!
LC

I actually bought two pairs so I could compare the shaft height. Here is a more standard-height riding boot to compare.

Thanks!

Hi sh0rty and welcome to the community! :)

Based on your pics, it looks like both boots fit well. I would assess the fit and the comfort of the boots. How do they feel when you walk in them? Are they comfortable? Also, if you're going to be doing a lot of bending (and who doesn't during the course of the day, esp. playing with and picking up your kids?), the shaft will dig into the backs of your legs. (I had to get used to that with my tall riding boots!) Personally, tho, I would go for the under the knee boots instead of the over the knee pair, especially since you mentioned you are looking for a wardrobe staple. Over the knee boots are a current trend and I'm not sure for how long. Tall riding boots look very classic to me (I LOVE THEM!) and are more versatile to wear with dresses, skirts, etc. But this is just my two cents and you'll have to decide on which one you LOVE wearing, which one makes you feel fabulous! :) Perhaps the other ladies can chime in, too.

I actually prefer the standard height on you to the OTK BUUUUT as far as OTK boots go those look like a great fit! I have personally never found a pair that don't make me look stumpy and I still think petites in general need to be careful what they wear with OTK boots, but I think those look great on you!
