Doxyloo, I thought about that, but figured I could kill two birds with one stone and just pair it with jeans later. Haha, but you have to dress for the part, right?

Cat- How did you get a suit from AN for only 122? Even with coupons I can never seem to get it for less than $150. >_<

Anyway, after reading and comparing numerous reviews I decided to buy a suit from Express. I bought the same jacket as PAG, but a different dress pants (original luxury editor pants). According to one of PAG’s follower, the original editor is a better fit for petite than the newer version she bought; PAG bought the wide wasitband editor pants. I got the whole suit it for $125. I really hope it fits!!! I will post pictures soon!

Thank you for all the advices!! =)

I got the suit at the Ann Taylor in an outlet mall, and it just happened to be having a suit event where you could get two matching suit separates for $122. It is an acetate/polyester blend versus the nicer wool blend suits that Ann Taylor usually carries, but it was the only suit I could find that fit, so I wasn't complaining.

Good luck on the suit!

Update: I received my Express Suit today! Here's the review and break down:

Price-- I actually ordered the LUXE STRETCH 1-BUTTON JACKET ($108) and the LUXURY STRETCH EDITOR ORIGINAL PANT ($59.90); Had a $30 off coupon so the total came out to be around $128 + shipping= $135; don't know if that is a good deal; I feel like I could have gotten a better deal. Oh well >_<.

Review-- The pants fitted well around the waist, but the length was way too long; plus it was a bit wide. Even with 3 1/2" heels it was still long, so I definitely need to get these tailored. :(

Jacket: Although the jacket fits well overall, the sleeves were a little long and wide. I don't know, there is just something about it that I don't like.

What do you guys think? Should I try to tailor it myself? If so, what would need to be hemmed and shortened? What do you think??

File comment: #1: Front view (Original Editor Pant): I like the look. The waist fits perfectly, but the length is too long and a bit too wide. So it needs to be taken in (at least 2") to make it a little tighter and shorter.

File comment: #2: Side view: Too wide. Need to make tighter

File comment: #3- The whole suit: Meh, I don't know if I like the overall look. It makes me look short, stubby, and fat. The jacket looks boxy. Maybe the shoulder are too wide/big? =/

Hmm, first decide if you want to keep the suit, if you feel you have time to find another one. The price is iffy for you, and it needs several alterations, which will require time and/or money. Also, you are not sure on the overall look, especially on the jacket, which can be a tricky thing to fix.

As for tailoring it yourself, it depends on how much time and sewing experience you have, as well as if you have a sewing machine. The alterations that I think will make a bigger difference are shortening the sleeves and pants, and slimming the pants down from the upper knee. As long you're ok with the suit not looking that great on the inside, I don't think those are too hard to do yourself, though you need to keep in mind the fabric is stretchy when it comes to slimming the pants (sewing stretchy fabrics incorrectly with a sewing machine produces a very wavy seam).

Other possible alterations include slimming the sleeves and bust. I think the shoulders are ok, but there's something about the torso that isn't right. There's also some wrinkling going on in the crotch area, but I don't know if that is because of the material.

Other people on this forum have much more experience with going to the tailors than I do, so hopefully they can give you some more insight. I've only recently started tailoring my own clothes and I've never had my clothes taken in professionally, so I'm a novice when it comes to figuring out alterations.

Cat- i agree. I must say though that I do like the material of the pants so i might keep those, but the blazer.. will probably be going back to the store. Argh I am so upset I missed the Loft's free shipping day :(. I wish Express got here sooner so I would of known to try somewhere else! I think I am just going to try Ann taylor/loft...
