It seems like Duo boots are the only boots that have been mentioned as being skinny calf-friendly, but they are over $300 plus international shipping. Aren't there more reasonably priced boots for thin calves?

The only boots I've seen that fit really small calves that aren't Duo are those stretch high heel boots.

I always try them on, but never like how they look. The chunky construction of the foot part compared to the super thin boot shaft makes my feet look really big compared to my skinny calves.

I've yet to see a similar stretchy style in flat boots. I hope someone else can be more helpful.

These boots are not of the best quality, but for that price, I wouldn't mind getting it for just one season.

I think the shoe area is about a 1/2 size too big. I wear a 5.5 and its still a little roomy, but an insert will fix all that.

The calf area has three buckles which are all adjustable. When adjusted at the tightest, it has slightly loose fit around my calves when I wear thick thigh socks. My calves are just over 12" around. This is probably the closest fitting calf boot I've tried on that are not Duo or stretchy boots.

They do tend to slouch after wearing it for an hour around the house, probably because its not tight enough around my calves.

The back of the boot does go up pretty high, about 16.5 inches. It does come about quarter way into the back of my knee, but because the boot is so soft, I don't find that to be bothersome.

I think this boot would be a good fit for someone whose calves are maybe at 12.5'-13" around if you intend on wearing socks or leggings.

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep or return this pair...it's the closest fitting boot I've found at such a low price.

Have you tried Zappos.com? They let you limited your search by circumference for boots.

Sorry I'm answering this late, but what type of boots are you looking for? I purchased a pair of flat Frye riding boots last season that fit my legs much better than cheaper, similar versions. I got them on sale at Macys for under $300.

I wanted a pair of tan leather riding boots that had a calf circumference less than the usual 15-16". The ones I found were $189, and at the time on sale for $165.

Ducking back in to ask if anyone has found any boots out there available in common retail outlets that run narrow in the calf this year?

I tried on EVERY pair of knee high boots (literally, even the ones I thought were ugly) at my TJ Maxx and the shoe stores in my mall this past weekend. That included boots from most of the mid-market brands (9 West, Madden, Aerosoles, Eienne Aigner, etc). Every single pair gapped -- some so badly I could fit BOTH hands down the shafts. Granted, I am looking for a pair to wear over tights, so they need to be even slimmer than those worn over jeans, but I'm getting a bit desperate.

I live in a fairly rural area (we have The Mall and no high end anchor stores in it -- the nicest anchor is a Macy's), so many of the higher end brands just aren't available to me to be tried on. I don't think Duos are quite in my budget, and the ones I like have some pretty mixed reviews on the site as far as quality. I'm certainly not spending that much on poorly constructed boots. I really want to be able to see and try on boots before I buy. I don'd mind paying $150 to $250, but I refuse to have to have them shipped to me and then ship them back when they don't work. I want RETAIL.

So, ideas? Recommendations? Hopeless dream?

Might as well go with the real deal, especially since the prices seem to be a lot lower than similar 'fashion' riding boots. You know it won't ever go out of style, unless people stop riding horses (?). Bonus--you can select what calf width you need, slim calf = 13", regular=14." Some sites I think you can order online and some let you search for a retailer by zip code.

They are the narrowest boots I have ever worn, but they are still a little loose on bare legs. Warning: do not let anyone else try them on because they will stretch and will not go back down. They used to fit perfectly with jeans and thick socks before I let a friend wear them.

I too am looking for the perfect below the knee, black, leather, slim fitting flat or low wedge boot that is work appropriate to wear with tights and a skirt.

The riding boots are a good idea, but I think they look a bit too equestrian for me.
