Hi everyone

I am so sick of seeing gorgeous bracelets, bangles and rings that fit like hula hoops on my knobby wrists and fingers! Best case scenario - a bracelet will fall around the widest part of my hand when I have my arms down. Worst case scenario - as soon as my arms go down, the jewellery falls straight off and onto the floor. Interesting costume jewellery (eg. wooden/mod/stone/corsage necklaces) either hang too low or look ridiculously chunky. ARGH!

The one time I found a bangle that fit, it turned out to be a baby's bracelet LOL. After the SA's wry comment, I felt compelled to put it back with an embarrassed laugh.

Given our proportions, I'm sure we've all had the same problem - does anyone have any suggestions for petite jewellery?

TIA!

Have you tried Etsy....http://www.etsy.com/

This is an excellent site for buying and selling all things handmade including jewelry. I have spent countless hours browsing this site.....so many lovely things!

Most jewelry makers are very accommodating when it comes to shortening bracelets, necklaces, etc. and they do custom work as well.

There are all levels of talent and price points.....sit down with a glass of wine or a coffee and browse away. :)

If you like Indian Bangles, they come in different sizes. I've been wanting to order some myself because I love bangles and very rarely can I find a set that won't slip off...and BTW, if a baby's bracelet fits, then you should just buy it! =D

Look for vintage jewelery! I fell in looooove with a beautiful vintage watch last year that was platinum with diamonds! But I didn't have an extra 1K sitting around to buy it. The band was perfect for my tiny wrists!

Women just a generation or two ago were itty bitty compared to today, so vintage jewelry is often sized pretty small. Vintage expos are great to go check out (there is a great one in Santa Monica twice a year for Los Angeles ladies).

I also second Etsy!! I found a bunch of cute bangles on there last year, not sure if the same sellers are still selling, but the link to my post is here:

You can find grown up looking, very pretty handmade stuff on Esty. You can also search kid's jewelry on ebay.

I had success the other night at Nordstrom Rack for bracelets and earrings. Kenneth Cole seemed to work the best. They were chunky without being big.

I feel overwhelmed when I try on large necklaces, like I'm a kid trying on my mom's jewelry.

Thanks everybody!

I love etsy - I can browse for hours on that site, honestly. I never thought of asking sellers to customise, though - I guess I am just so used to going "ooh so pretty, but it'll never fit!" Will definitely give that a try. Thanks HM63 and Jackie!

Annie K, snowjulie and Cher - great suggestions, thank you! I knew I had come to the right place for ideas.

(Annie, I don't know how I missed that DY post... Hope your husband happens to come across it too LOL).

Love the suggestion about vintage jewellery, AN. Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing some beautiful filigree + large stone bracelets a long time ago that were TDF. They were somehow chunky and petite at the same time. And who could say no to those lovely tarnished clasps - I just love old workmanship.

I found out about Jules Smith and she creates bangles and bracelets in different sizes. I ended up getting the enamel bangle 6 piece set and they fit well. the diameter is about 2 1/4" which is pretty tiny, so if you have small wrists, try this place out. It was pretty easy to get feedback from Jules Smith, so if you're curious about what the sizes mean (small, med, large) email her and get it straight from the source.

Hi everyone. I am a petite silversmith and understand the desire and need for bracelets to fit our petite wrists. I am happy to customize sizes on any items. You can see my work at www.DeannePace.com or my online Etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeannePace. I would love to make something special for you.
Cheers!
Deanne
