Hi!
This is my first time posting but so far I've really liked reading the range of topics on this forum! I'm hoping some of you kind ladies can help me with a problem that I've struggled with for years. I have never been able to wear flats comfortably without a strap across the top. Whenever I try them on, my heel just pops right out and I cannot walk in them. I used to wear GAP flats that are the kind that fold up to bring with you when your feet get tired from wearing high heels. I loved them until I realized how much my feet hurt from the elastic squeezing my foot into place. Also, I have high arches so that may also contribute to why I can't find flats. Has anyone had this problem or know of any shoes that would work for my kind of feet? Thank you!

Hi deammalosi!

I also have a hard time finding flats that are comfortable. I have high arches and narrow feet. Flats often slip off my heel, have no support for my arches, and tire my foot muscles as my toes grip the shoe with each step.

I haven't found a particular brand that works for me, but I've noticed that if I size down a 1/2 shoe size, or find a flat that tends to run narrow, I have better luck with comfort. Also, look for flats that come up a little higher at the heel, since they'll grip your narrow heel better.

I would try a slingback style, with an adjustable heel strap.

I've had good luck with Naturalizer. The shoes are good quality and you can buy them according to width (narrow - extra wide). I have a pair of leather black flats that I wear every day and they are so comfortable and in good shape.

I have high arches and AAA narrow heals. The only flats that I have found that I can wear at all are the classic Repetto flats and the Tory Burch Eddie ballet flats (elastic is on the back of the TB's). The Repetto comes in french sizing and runs a full size smaller than American sizes, so an American size 5 is equivalent to a size 36 and so on.

Shoeshopper ~ I read some reviews on the Tory Burch Eddie Flats and some people found that they really hurt their heels. Have you found that to be the case? They look super cute and would love to try them out. Where did you find the Repetto flats? At a department store? Thanks!

Hi deannalosi, I order the Repetto flats from Saks online. On the Tory Burch Eddie flats, when I tried on my normal size, they did hurt my heal, but when I went up a half size they were super comfortable. The Tory Burch website actually recommends going up a half size in the Eddie flat, probably for that reason.
