I've been having such a hard time finding the PERFECT pair of jeans. I haven't tried any pricier brands because I don't know where to start! So far I've tried American Eagle, Hollister, Target, Alloy, and Gap. I've found the perfect pair of straight leg jeans from Gap, but I'm trying to find the perfect pair of bootcut jeans! Any suggestions? I prefer a classic wash with minimal whiskering or fading, and a mid-rise. Apparently it's so hard to find that these days!! Thanks for your help.

I find Banana Republic's denim to be quite comfy.

Depending on your inseam this is kind of hard for bootcut jeans because you can't sneakily wear ankle jeans for regular length skinnies. If you're ~30" I would recommend BR (like shortystories), a Levi's store, and maybe a large H&M. I have a pair of H&M jeans that I really like, but stores in my area don't seem to carry much in terms of denim. Worth a peek though! In order to find mid-rise jeans in the length you want you'll definitely want to seek out an actual stand-alone Levi's store so they'll have lots of fits. Hopefully the "short" length is good on you, because that would open up a world of possibilities! Good luck!!

I've bought lots of jeans, from cheap to very expensive, and believe it or not, my favorite jeans have all been Express jeans. Their "short" sizes have a 30" inseam, which is perfect for me, and they tend to last a really long time. The trick is finding a pair in a good dye without too many silly whiskers and things. Check them out, though. We have pretty similar measurements.

Thank you all! I didn't think to try BR or H&M. I've tried Levi's before, but I just couldn't find "the one." Maybe it's worth a try again. I'll have to check all of these out!

I definitely recommend trying either Paige Denim or 7 For All Mankind. They might require a bit of hemming but they fit well all around.

Well I am also looking for the perfect fit pair of jeans with a decent cut, not low wais (or not too much), good quality (means the fabric not paper like...) and with no frilly or other thing (means plain dark blue or black). I recently tried a new one, Levis' curves one. I am 4"10 or 11 I think (sorry not used to inches as I used centimetres) but with curves. So I bought the bold curves in 26X32 (is that the rise or the inseam, sorry but I do not understand the difference). Those jeans fit me (of course too long but not so much), are not skinnies (which I really do not like at all) with minor gap at the waist but are a bit too low to my liking. They are even a bit too tight at the hips and bottom. And well the fabric is not really very good. I made a comparison with 2 older levis' jeans I already had : the 627 and the classic and timeless 501. Both are confortable and the fabric is quite thick which I prefer as I tend to wear jeans when I go on my motorbike.
Well my quest for the perfect jeans goes on. I will try to find the Paige range (do not know if the brand exists in France). But if petites are looking for a modern cut and fit I really say do try the Curves Levis as they fit me at 4"11.

I'm super surprised that the Levis curve jeans have a waist gap on you... Are you in-between sizes/"fits"? [If you didn't get measured by a sales associate, I would really recommend it!] I always though I had a flat butt but when I got measured, I was a "demi curve" which is one step up from the flattest one.. haha. The store I went to (I tried this line fairly recently!) also had 30" inseams, so that might be worth a peek too. :] Maybe you can try again to find your perfect fit!!
